Our story about a clothing line for tweens and teens with autism called Independence Day Wearable Tech was one our most popular stories last month, so we definitely wanted to share an Advertising Age post we read about a new app for children with autism with you, too.
Called “Look at Me,” the app helps children with autism improve eye contact and read facial expressions through a series of games or missions. One of the games called “Read the Mood!” helps children “learn how to recognize the overall mood by comparing and identifying the general sentiments of two groups of people,” according the app’s instructions. Another game trains children to “recognize subtle changes in facial expressions.”
Samsung and Cheil Worldwide, a South Korean advertising agency, partnered with Yonsei University and Seoul National University to create “Look at Me,” according to Advertising Age.
“We’re putting our technology and a unique application in the hands of children with the hope that it truly builds more connections and brings meaningful differences to their lives,” Samsung Canada chief marketing officer Mark Childs told The Toronto Star.
