Munich-based augmented reality company Metaio is developing "Thermal Touch," a technology that can turn any object into a touchscreen.
Thermal Touch uses both infrared and visible light cameras to detect heat from fingers to allow people to interact with their environment in new ways. The technology would be embedded into smartphones and other wearable mobile devices, such as smart watches and Google Glass.
The vision Metaio has for Thermal Touch would, for example, allow people to use their hands as remote controls, touch objects while shopping to read customer reviews and designing 3D objects to see how they might fit in a room.
2 Questions: How would you use it? Who could this help? For example, imagine if you could touch your assistive or medical device and it reminds you how to use it.
