IZ Adaptive Clothing has specialized in fashion that most designers wouldn't think about. Back in 2004, designer Izzy Camilleri was working for a client with quadriplegia and realized that wheelchair users don't have many options when it comes to fashion.
"There's a need and a void for this type of clothing," Camilleri said. She spent the next few years leaning how to fill that void, and began her company IZ Adaptive in 2009.
Camilleri has designed pieces that are tailored to people who remain in a seated position. The items come with adjustments for those who aren't always able to dress themselves, and she's placed seams and pockets while keeping in mind the pressure sores that can develop from remaining seated.
"[My clients] now have the freedom to express themselves through their clothes," Camilleri said.
