We’re thrilled to announce that Not Impossible has received the “Innovative 3-DIY” award at the 2015 SXSW Interactive Innovation Awards in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday night, March 17. The award is in honor for Not Impossible’s work on “Project Daniel.” Not Impossible’s team of Mick Ebeling, Elliot Kotek and Sophia Dilley were on hand to receive the award.
“Project Daniel” focuses on a teenager who’d lost both arms in a bomb blast in Sudan. When Not Impossible sent a team there to 3-D print limbs for Daniel, the impact resonated farther than any could have predicted. “Project Daniel” has not only restored hope for a teenager in Sudan, it’s spurred other individuals to take up the charge and make a difference.
After yesterday’s win, Mick Ebeling commented: “I hope that the story of Daniel, and that of Tempt (the graffiti artist for whom NI created the Eyewriter), Don Moir (an ALS survivor for whom NI recently created a voice technology), and many others will continue to inspire many people around the world to help one, help many.” “We’re thankful that by honoring our work the community continues to recognize the impact that Makers are having on humanity through the use of technology,” adds Elliot Kotek, Not Impossible’s co-founder.
